Alternative Dispute Resolution in Armenia

As an alternative to the state courts, parties to contracts are entitled to refer a dispute to a private arbitration tribunal, including ad hoc and institutional arbitration tribunals located either within or outside Armenia. The subject of the arbitration proceedings may cover a wide range of issues, with the exception of disputes that are not arbitrable. Mediation as a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a neutral third person helps the parties reach an amicable resolution of a dispute is also available in Armenia. It is more informal, confidential, and flexible process in which the mediator helps the parties to understand the interests of everyone involved, and their practical and legal choices.
